Volkswagen Scirocco R

I guess since they haven't done a damn thing with it in 20 years somebody had to pick up the ball
Are you saying they don't look alike? Cuz they look pretty damn similar to me.
And I'd wager that the performance is pretty similar too. The Volvo is running a 230hp 5 cylinder turbo. I've driven the latest version of the GTI. Mehhh... Nothing to jump up and down about.

Rumor Mill, they will come to the states in 2010, but doubt we will get all the nice models.
Saw the R in person when I was in Germany for the 24hr of the Nur.
The race variant is awesomely hot!!!

I'll believe it when I see it... its likely that IF we get it, it will be very expensive in order to not compete with the GTI. At that point, it'll cannibalize sales from the TT or simply die because people would rather buy Audi. I don't think I could justify spending more money for essentially the same car, though. That's why I passed on an A3 or TT.

DepDog: I have always like the C30 but the rear will not accomidate my yellow lab getting in and out of. You do have to admit that the VW looks a little better and if it does come AWD it is one to put on the list to check out.
IMHO if they came out AWD with that race look it would kill subi and Evo sales.

i wouldn't get it. its simply a less practical version of the GTI. great car and i don't blame people for paying more for essentially the same car or buying it over and over again, but i want something else. been there, done that. if we're talking future VW's, i'd prefer the bluesport roadster... MR, lighter, better traction... whether TSI or TDI, it's a winner.
