New here: 2003 VW GTI 20th AE #1472

Just came across this forum recently and decided to introduce myself.

I have a 2003 VW GTI 20th Anniversary. I am currently deployed to afghanistan as an Airborne Infantryman with the 173rd ABCT. While im here the car is getting a host of things done to it. Gonna be far from stock when i see her.

List of things being done:

-Precision t3/t4 50 trim w/ kit including high flow manifold
-Kinetic FMIC with 450hp core
-IE forged drop in rods
-Walbro 255lph pump and 630cc injectors
-Kinetic MBC
-Tial Q BOV

Items still to be ordered:

-Clutch masters stage 4 Six puck clutch with single mass flywheel
-Unitronics 630cc mafless program
-Water/meth injection kit

further down the road:

-Coilovers
-Wheels
-Porsche brake swap with lines

Aiming for 400+whp....

Here is the car and some items that are in the mail currently.

Nice car! I hate to be a jerk, but why 400whp in a FWD car?

I understand the "why" completely. This will be a highway car, i have no plans of trying to put that power to the ground for 1/4 runs.

After it is built i plan on bringing her over to Germany where i am stationed and have fun on the autobahn as well as take some laps around the 'ring.

Its such a fun platform and actually very easy to get the numbers im wanting. Even though its FWD its still a very fun car on the highway and with little upgrades to the suspension, etc. it is very fun to throw into the corners on big road courses.

HA, yes it definitely has its perks. Although ive been here in this **** hole of a country (Afghanistan) for coming up on a year now, so anything but here will be great.

On the tq steer, this is my 2nd 20th GTI. I got this one because it was such a good deal and i had the means to do it right and all at once. With the setup im going with it will have a very smooth power band and should help with the tq steer. And yes it is actually a very fun car to drive. I think its still the highest rated GTI by different testing sources iirc.
