my step-dad actually picked up a 2011 Golf Tdi for his DD. its a pretty fun car to drive and gets awesome mileage. he installed a APR intake on it. added a little better throttle response and you can here the turbo better.

It's not a TDI but my DD is an 07 GTI with the DSG. Very well behaved in std or sport mode. Only time I have an issue is on startup while on a hill it can lurch like it's searching for the correct launch gear, but this is rare and a small issue with 79k on the odo it hasn't had any maintenence issues. BTW, chipped 2.0 with exhaust and it get 33 mpg with a very high fun factor!

Nice dude. I looked at the a3, they're sharp and fun, but only moms can get away with driving wagons and I'm no where near being a mom soooo I went with the golf.
How do you like it so far?

For guys, yeah, I agree. I don't think a woman can rock one until she's got children though, otherwise people seem to assume she has them, just one of those things. There's a red a3 tdi in the area, I drool every time I see it.

IMHO A3s are nice, it all depends how you make it look.
For the TDI you can get a bigger turbo, bigger nozzles, FMIC upgrade, transmission reinforcement and then tune it and get up to 350whp while keeping that fuel mileage.

Here's mine
2011 Golf TDi 6MT
Coming from a BMW E90 to this and must say I LOVE it so far. Went with the 6MT and no regrets just makes it so much more fun. Wife has had a 05 Passat TDi and an 06 Jetta TDi DSG and we had Zero problems with either of them. As for tunes will be going with Malone in next few months. I've also looked into CA/Exhaust upgrades but after researching high and low none of the aftermarket goodies have proven any HP/TQ gains so keeping intake/exhaust stock as is. The funnest gears for me are 3 and 4 with 5 coming in handy on the hwy to pass cars and zig zag in and out of traffic. I've put stereo system in mine, lowered it, tint and put 19" staggered wheels on Conti DWS.
We took a trip out to CA and NV and even when I had the thing planted at 125 MPH for about 30-35 min it still gave about 38-39 MPG. However when I slow down and put on cruise control @ 60 mph I usually see around 48+ MPG. Like i said...LOVING IT!
