the W12 is so silky smooth, and has a lot of torque down low
my ideal phaeton would be a black on black, BBS LMs tinted windows, and blacked out VW badges

 

The one I had to drive from time-to-time was Blue, Limo tint, and had BBS on them (don't remember what kind though).

And the power was awesome. Driving on the highway, you think you're going 60, and you are really going 95+!

OMG! listen to how quiet the cockpit is at well over 140mph. I thought that the video had no sound till the nav gave directions.

 

Yes, it is a VERY quiet vehicle. I would really like to hear it with a nice free-flowing exhaust.

 

Someone on here has a black one, tinted, wheels, etc. looks great and I've always loved that car.

I would never scrounge pennies to buy any car, it's just talking myself into needing it or wanting it bad enough. If I made poor financial decisions, I wouldn't be in accounting.

or a 2001-2002 LS 430

if i were in your shoes i would pick up a nice A6 2.7t for about $15-17,000 and put the rest to the side in case anything brakes

those things are STUPID fast

 

A good friend of mine's family has about 10 cars, some classic muscle cars, 97 Turbo, Vettes, etc...and a 540. It NEVER get's driven, has like 10,000 miles on it and it's on Fikse FM5s...I can't get them to sell it. It just sits in their warehouse.

 

And wow, those A6s are cheap but I see mostly 3.0s. I really want the Phaeton though. Such an under-rated car.

 

with a chip and exhaust, a 2.7t will be a fun *** car...

I've driven the W12 extensively. It has a lovely ride, is immensely powerful and handles brilliantly.

It has no glitz, which is ultimately the reason for it not selling - the badge was too much for most to overlook.

For those that can, i don't think there is a better car in it's category.

The only thing i would look out for is how much parts will cost for it since they stopped making it. It also isn't that reliable in the electronics department, my ex gf's dad had to take it in about 8 times in the first year of ownership (excluding servicing) for problems here and there, which is too much in my opinion for niggles.

Oh and one last thing - don't get the perforated interior, it makes it look crap.

That's a really good point, VW did do a 10/100 warranty on them when they weren't selling I think...

 

Wow thats pretty solid for the $$$... debadge it, grab some 20's, and it's a bad *** DD for under $50k
