Toyo R888 - Any experience with them?
http://www.toyo.com/docs/tires/tires...category=sport
As I understand it, they are the replacement for the RA1 and I was wondering if anyone is running them as street tires. My car is now a garage queen and puts on minimal mileage and will be used for a few occasional track days.
So my question is, how will these fare as street tires with occasional track use? I'm guessing I should expect 4,000 - 6,000 miles depending on how aggressive I use them, correct?

4-6k miles is about right.
i run them on and off street.
great on street when you have tread, and good in the wet.
when tread wear out, it's as fast as mpsc on track.
if R888 is available in your size, take that instead, same price, same life, but stickier and stronger sidewall.

is camber an issue as i want to to get the r888's but their website recommends at least 2.0 neg camber in front and my 997 cn only max just over 1 neg camber....will the tires run well with only -1.2 camber in front?
thanks

In all honesty, you may want to look at the RA1...it may be a better "street" option for you. I did some testing on the R888 when it was released (use to work for Toyo) and it's a LOUD tire!!
While they are suppose to be the RA1 replacement. IMHO they are seperate tires. I don't think the RA1 will be going anywhere soon (atleast I know I tried to push that we kept both).
It amazed me when talking to the techs and higher ups that they didn't realize people use these tires as street tires as well

i thought the r888's were better in wet....worried in summer it always rains on the way home from the track....i assume with low tread, with r compound it doesn't matter what tire it is, you will slide around in the rain...but if you had a choice and did not want to trailer the tires, which would you use to drive back and forth to the track
i don't care about the loudness as i will only use it to and from the track....i ahve an extra set of wheels and ps2's for the street
thanks

I've driven both in the rain and didn't have an issue. In mind, both were newer tires and had a good amount of tread left.....everyone else i've talked with thinks the RA1 is the better wet tire. I really didn't notice a difference, but I never got on it in the rain. I felt the R888 had better dry grip.
