TOYO Proxes T1R vs Sumitomo HTR Z III

Which is a better street tire?

I currently run the Toyo's on my M3 and G35 (run R comps on the GT2).

The Toyos were a good tire for the money but prices have jumped. I have heard good things about the Sumi's however and they are very cheap.

trackjunky is infamous around these parts
HTR III is ranked very high by tirerack, for the price you can't beat it. Have you consider Dunlop Direzza Starpec? Suppose to be the best street tire, bang for the bucks.

Quite simply, I think Toyo has better technology that Sumo. Sumo makes a very good value tire, but for a true performance tire the Toyo is much better.

I just switched from T1R's to Sumitomos, and while the sumi is a really good tire for the money, it isn't a Toyo I just didn't want to drop the money for the Toyo's, and I have been happy with the sumis for the money.

Unless you know tire construction I don't know if I would say that is a fair statement. Not saying you're wrong, but the only way to say for sure is to test the two together. If you do your homework on Sumitomo you'll find they have quite a bit of heritage and reputation - far more than newcomer Toyo.

Damon - do you think that Sumo holds their HTRZIII up to be a top line UHP tire as Toyo would with the T1R? I know Sumo is a huge company with good technology.
