"Milky" wheel center caps

Have any of you had trouble with the center caps of your wheels begin to look milky or clouded over? I attached a picture. The wheels and caps are only 1 year old. Is there a way to clean them without damaging the emblem? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I feel your pain.

Ahhh, the infamous milky center cap. Well I've destroyed two sets of the colored crest center caps on my 2000 carrera so far. I think I have it narrowed down to wax. I don't use any type of cleaners on my wheels just soap from the bucket after washing my car. After I destroyed the first enter caps I was very particular on how I cleaned them. They were fine until I went to a car show, in which I prepped my car by waxing the wheels. I noticed the next day that the center caps had developed a haze(milky haze)to them. So if its not the wax that caused this I have no clue, but both times I had waxed the wheels when they were destroyed. I use meguiar's gold class and a yellow wax they make that smells like bananas. I've come to the conclusion to buy the black and silver center caps and not wax them.

Thanks guys for your help! I just got the car so I don't know if the previous owner waxed them or not. I tried a plastic polish that has some abrasive in it and they look better but not perfect so I'm just going to buy new ones. I'll know not to wax the new ones!
