I just reviewed that thread and everyone seems to be in a consensus that the V12's are good. I don't think I'm on an island here...

Hahahaha looks like im getting Contis baby...but like sum1 said if u have Kooks and they work good and if they dont idk what to say but im hearing alot about the sidewalls. To each his own

 

Def. do not mix the breeds. This creates bad problems with certain mixes. The PS2's I liked. There is no doubt the V12's will not be as good as tires twice their price at some things. For those that don't spend a lot of time on the track, this tire seems to be liked. There were things I didn't like about the PS2. Give and take with every compound.

 

I have about 3000 miles on my Hankooks and I love them. It feels like I'm on a rail in the turns and they are not as noisy as the Contis. It is not fair to compare brand new Hankooks vs worn out Contis (or against any other worn out brand). My only regret is not getting these tires sooner. The worn out Contis were slipping in the rain.

 

I put Hankook V12s on my 997.2 back in December. I have about 1500-2000 miles on them, and they are, BY FAR, the worst tires I've ever purchased. The car literally feels unstable at speeds over 75 mph.

I'm thinking about taking them off now and buying PS2s or the Bridgestones. If anyone wants a take-off set of Hankooks for cheap (19s), let me know.

 

I'm running a set of Toyo Proxes1's and so far in 4k miles they are actually very very good.

 

Who sells Toyo?? Are you running TR1s???

Also I have 245/30/20 tires in the front 305/25/20 in the rear can I go 295/25/20 in the rear as a option the Contis dont make a 305?? Maybe add a spacer IDK Thanks for any help guys

 

It's kind of funny, the different reviews. I don't have enough miles on these V12's to throw a spear yet. They feel fine. The major complaint of most people on the PS2's is the soft sidewall. I took PS2's off and put the V12's on. I don't feel much appreciable difference. Oh well.

 

IMO...the second best option to the PS2s is the Cont DW. Unfortunately the rear tire in 305 will not be available until 2012.

I debated this for some time too and finally ponied up for the PS2s again. Although I don't track at all and typically only take it out on nice weekends, I wasn't willing to compromise any ride characteristics. I'm certainly no pro and would never make judgements on a tire I've never driven on but still not willing to take the risk. IMO too expensive of a car to compromise with.

For those completely satisfied with V12s, can't blame you...savings of 1k is significant.

Finally...you may want to consider the weight differentail on all 4 as well. PS2s are some of the lightest you can buy. Not sure this is something we can feel but with so many trying to reduce weight keep in mind you will be adding weight with other brands. I believe the Pilot Sports are even heavier than the PS2s.

 

I have these tires on wifey's Lexus. Far from a P-car so the comparison may not be relelvant to you guys.
In no way are they a match for PS2 or other high end tire. But for what they cost, I can't complain at all. Takes a little time for them to warm up but thankfully the doesn't take long here in south Florida. They are reasonable quiet and handle reasonably decent.
Since the car is a Lexus, I'm not looking for Porsche-type performance so I can't give them high enough marks for you guys. But anyone with a sport sedan would be fine with these.

 

I just put a order in for Nitto Invos 245/30/20 rears and 305/25/20 rears. Ive been getting gray hair with this tire issue. I was gonna go with Hankooks and getting mixed reviews, then wanted Conti DW but they dont have 305s in the rear. I cant justify almost $500 a tire for PS2 so im gona try the Invo got good reviews I drive my car prob 7k miles a year no track neva in the rain IF I DONT HAVE TO. So well see what happens.

 

Please let us know how you like the Nittos after they have been "broken in".

Have a set of Hankook Ventus ST 275/40 R20's on my Cayenne Turbo. Wear has been good and ride decent. Traction decent but there is a bit of skipping occasioanly under heavy accelleration (not that I do that too often... really )

Although, with about 60% life left on them, the front left tire is separating internally on the interior side of tread near the point it joins to the inner sidewall. You can see a 1/2" indent in the tire tread all the way around the tire towards the inner edge of tire tread (looks like a mini valley about 1/4" deep), and the entire tire is shifted towards the outside by 1/2".

If I had not seen this and continued to drive on it, a nasty blowout would be coming in short order. Getting new rubber installed all around today. Not going to be another set of these I can assure you.
