Who's Makin' QUALITY FORGED Wheels These Days?
It seems like there are a million shops in Los Angles with a CNC machine and some CAD software these days... but who actually makes a quality product?
HRE have gotten too big (and expensive), IMO. (they don't even sell 18s!)
CCW's wheels are cheep and have a good rep, but they look "off" to me.
Fikse makes a sold rim, but they're too stale and utilitarian looking.
DPE, Iforged are both OK, but again the newer styles are 19"+.
I guess what I'm asking is:
Any help is appreciated.

I guess what I'm asking is:
- Are any of these guys any different from one another? Don't they all source the exact same raw materials?
- Is anyone out there catering to the 18" and under crowd? I'd like modern styles (ie concave), but I don't want to run 30 series tires.
Any help is appreciated.

Here at HRE we make plenty of options in 18" diameters. If you wish to race you can run an of our R40 Series or our C90 Series. Both Series have been proven on the track and are built here in our facility. Fall Line Motorsports won the Continental Tire Grand Am Championship last year on our R43's. The C93's are on the Underground Twin Turbo Gallardo that holds Texas Mile record at 250.1 mph.
If you wish to run a high performance street wheel you can run any of our 590RS, 560R or 560C wheels in 18" applications.
For Centerlock Porsche GT3RS you can run our CL90 or CL93.
Overall that gives you 18 potential 18" Options. Possibly more than any other forged wheel company in the US.
As far as quality, I feel confident that you will be more than satisfied with the final product.
All of our products are manufactured in house at our facility here in Vista, CA. Our facility is TUV Certified ensuring we constantly build our wheels to the toughest standards in the world.
Please feel free to check out our 18" Line up at www.hrewheels.com
Also, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to call or swing in for a tour. We'll be more than happy to show you what goes into an HRE and separates them from the rest.

EddieK997,
Thanks for the kind remarks. As many 6Speed members have seen recently Formula 43 has been busy producing modular wheels including Porsche Centerlocks.
What is so unique with Formula 43 modular wheels? We manufacture our own exclusive German "Spin-Form" AL6061-T6 rim halves in house. We have a long history developing this technology over many decades and now offer it for the first time with our own Formula 43 wheels.
Currently we have 18" and 19" 3-piece wheels readily available and offer quick ship for our RAD10 18" Club Sport wheels for Porsche 5-lug applications.
Check out our website: www.formula43.com or email tj@formula43.com for more information or a referral to one of our dealers.
Have a great weekend everyone!

I feel that while many of our wheel designs have been around for a few years, they are still very stylish and very good looking. There are wheel companies fairly new to the scene who like them so much they make near exact copies. At the same time it is time for something new. These are in the works now and will be out soon. Stay tuned...

Fikse makes a sold rim, but they're too stale and utilitarian looking.
DPE, Iforged are both OK, but again the newer styles are 19"+.

Alan:
If I was tracking your wheels would be my first choice, but as an automotive fashion accessory -- let's face it, that's what they are -- they're Dockers in in a sea of European couture.
I have no idea what the difference is between the Classic and Profil series and, honestly, I'm pretty sure their designs are at least 5 and 10 years old, respectively.
How hard is it to make a new design?

I just went through the same scenrio for my 996 NB. I did not want to go 19" for the reduced ride qaulity and additional damage risk driving in NJ/NY area. I wanted BBS RSGT but not available from my supplier (Tire Rack) Finally went with BBS LM and increased front and rear width from 8F and 10R to 8.5F and 11R with 56 offsets. They fit great and have transformed the ride and handling. Very strong wheel backed up by major company, and at reasonable price.
