How to remove the powder coating?

My car has a a set of 19" Champion RG5 on my 996, and the previous owner had them powder coated black, and the lips polished. Is it possible to get the black off? I really like the original color.

Thanks,

there's no way to take the powder coat off , but to sand blast it , but of course you would have to finish the wheels.

i dont what they do where ur from but sand blasting a wheel to strip is not very logical and prob very time consuming. here in ca u take the wheels to a stripper, they dunk them in several tanks everythings automated and in about 5-10 min any paint or powdercoat on the wheel is gone, then of course u need to repaint, powdercoat, polish, chrome etc again

Yes, you can chemically strip powder coating and will not harm the aluminum surface. Very effective and inexpensive. Contact some of your local powder coaters and inquire about this process or if they know of any local companies that do this. I use a company called "Kolene Corp." Cost is about $25.00 per wheel and 7-10 day turn around.
