The Forgestar wheels will require hub centric rings. Forgestar provides aluminum hub rings which are used to ensure that an alloy wheel is centred correctly on a hub of a vehicle. You will not have any issues with vibrations and they will not cause any safe issues so long as they're installed properly.

thre are no issues running the NON hubcentric f14's in 18 using the insert.

on another note, i sure wish "frank" over there would answer my query yesterday about my needing another forgestar f14 in 8.5 x 18 brushed titanium to go with the other three i currently am running. need to know availability/turnaround time and even more importantly, how the f14 has changed since i ordered my set in 3/11. need to know if an old f14 and a "newer" f14 will "match".

Most aftermarket wheels will not be hubcentric and will require the centering rings. The aluminum ones tend to hold up better than the plastic ones, but both will work. Or you can get custom wheels which are made specific for your car and are hubcentric from the builder.

Spoke with a local shop and they said no rings required and that 18s do come for 996 wb setup. So a bit confused why some say yes and others say no.

That being said anyone know what offset I should run for 18x8 front and 18x11 rear. Want them flush as if as if I was running 7mm front and 14mm back spacers but don't want the spacers or should I go with 18x8.5 and 18x12??? Don't want to compromise the ride as I do track it once in a while.

absolutlely centering rings are needed. vibration will result without them. i run the gt2 spec cf5 wheels. 18x8.5 and 18x12 with gt2 et offsets. as flush as can be

how are the quality/strength of these as track wheel. Ive heard some crack and bend (earlier models). These forgestar are near OZ price range... but OZ has proven history even for their non-forged wheels.

Forgestar did make changes to various wheels as they now come with a 72 center bore. The bolt circle area of the wheel now have a different shape so it will not match up with the older barrels. If you do have the older barrels, they definitely will not match. There may still be some 18x8.5 RAW old barrels that they can use to build a replacement but the chances are going to be slim. I'll drop you a PM so that we can discuss this in more detail.

Not sure why the shop would say that, my guess is that they know enough about the product they're selling. You definitely do need hub centric rings and they are providing you with wrong info.

The offsets of the wheels are typically determined by the experts at Forgestar on 99% of the orders and only about 1% of customers specify the offsets that they want.

As many of you may already know, their sister company is iForged performance wheels and they specialize in 2 & 3 piece forged applications. Forgestar has over 30 years of combined experience in the automotive wheel industry. Forgestar is a member of the SEMA association and the SEMA Wheel & Tire Council.

Forgestar wheels bridge the gap between forged wheels and cast wheels. The Forgestar lineup features one piece lightweight rotary forged custom flow formed wheels. Rotary Forged Flow Forming is a production procedure that turns the wheel (or rim section) over a special mandrel and three hydraulic rollers using tremendous pressure. The pressure and turning then force the rim area to form against the mandrel, creating the shape and width of the rim. During Flow Forming, the rim actually "flows" down to create the full rim width. The pressure applied to the cast rim actually changes its mechanical properties, so its strength and impact values become similar to those of a forged rim. That translates to up to 15% less weight when compared to a standard cast wheel. Our technological breakthroughs in heat treating allow us to increase dent resistance without having to make the wheel heavier.

Forgestar Performance Wheels proprietary Rotary Forged Flow Forming technology allows the customers to choose between a range of offsets for every wheel width that is offered. All Forgestar Performance Wheels are compatible with tire pressure sensor monitors and allow clearance for most high performance brake caliper upgrades.
