Wicked 1965 Chevy Chevelle Malibu SS Plays “Hit-Man” on Donz Gigante Rims

It takes a lot to make the claim of bona-fide “muscle car” – you can’t just compare your ride to Vin Diesel’s in the Fast and the Furious films because you may own a similar model. The 1965 Chevelle Malibu by legendary American brand Chevroletis one such genuine beast, a classic in every sense of the word and sought-after by many on the collector, aftermarket and domestic tuner circuits. When Rennen International dropped its gorgeous, show-stopping Donz Gigante wheels on this ’65Chevelle Malibu SS, it was made vividly clear that this was going to be one special show vehicle.

First and foremost, Rennen took a staggered approach with the beautiful-yet-menacing Chevelle, putting Donz Gigante 19 x 9s in the front and 20 x 12s in the rear – wrapped with Falken Azenis 255/30/19-sized rubber – to perfectly complement the car’s outrageous bodylines. With the upgraded rolling stock taken care of, the Chevelle was then treated to a complete set of Wilwood braking components including 14-inch rotors and six-piston calipers in the front, providing the bulk of the stopping power, and 14-inch rotors/four-piston calipers out back.

If your everyday stock-configured classic car is the average Joe’s wife, then this ’65 Chevelle Malibu SS is Al Capone’s sexy, drop-dead-gorgeous mistress dressed to kill – lacy and racy thigh-highs, stilettos and all – for a night on the town. Exuding a sinister, gangster-from-the-past look, the car has traded its original primer-on-red motif for something more menacing – all emblems and keyholes were shaved, and all chrome bits were powder-coated in black except for the red, white and blueChevy crest in the middle of the grille. Of course, that wasn’t enough, so the body received a thick, deep coat of Torch Redpaint before it was set down on a fully-boxed frame boasting a custom Ridetech suspension, the aforementioned Wilwoodbrakes and, of course, those sultry Donz Forged Gigante wheels.

To back up this “hit-man” appearance, the Chevelle SS boasts a balanced and blueprinted LS1 350 with a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger glued to the top. The system is fed through a custom intake that utilizes four high-flow K&N Performance air filters to keep dirt, dust and the unfortunate Mini Cooper from being sucked into the engine. All of this mechanical mayhem and magic nets some 586 horsepower and an almost unheard-of 760 pound-feet of stump-tugging torque at the rear wheels.

The Donz Forged Gigantes worn proudly on this ’65 Chevelle Malibu SS come from a long line of celebrated quality automotive wheels, all of which have been expertly crafted by the Rennen International brand. Every Donz Forged wheel begins with a Grade A 6061-T6 aluminum billet which is cut and placed into a 10,000-ton forging press, yielding the 6061aluminum material which boasts a completely refined grain structure. This enables the wheels to exhibit not only lightweight characteristics, but extreme durability, making the material perfect for aerospace manufacturing.
