Are there wheels like these for our cars?
Hey guys.
I've searched around and can't find any wheels that look like this for 996/997s.
One piece, BBS style rims, obviously not center lock, but kind of like BBS CH style. The only wheels out there that sort of fit the description are the BBS RE, but the face is a little flatter than I'd like.
If BBS made a CH, CK, hell even the RX would be nice. I like how the spokes extend to the edge of the rim, rather than the deep (luxury type) lip. Unfortunately, there are no Porsche fitments of these wheels. I suppose the 996 GT3 (MKII) rim is close, but not quite as chiseled as the BBS look.
Rennworx makes a really nice rim that sort of fits the bill, but comes only in 19" size. From watching all the ALMS on TV, I really like these types of rims on the DBR9s and F430GT.
Just wondering if anyone knows of a brand that I haven't found yet.
Thanks!

I've found some! It's a wheel I've seen only on Manthey Motors cars, but I know it's made by BBS. Anyone have any idea of the name of it, or if there is a dealer for it in the US?

These wheels are made by BBS, but not sold through BBS dealers. They are made for Manthey who uses Rennworx as a USA distributer. They are called MMII's.
Some details:
16 lbs each
made of magnesium
available in a 9x18 et45 and 11x18 et60
Now the scary part...........price= roughly $2000.00 PER WHEEL
BTW..........Porsche Motorsport uses BBS as their wheels supplier for factory and works cars.
The Aston martin above is using OZ as a wheel supplier!

Probably the closest match to the BBS MMII's wheels are the Champion RG19'S and the Rennworx RSL's. Either one of these should run about half the $$$$ of the MMII's. The RSL'S come in around 18 lbs with the included titanium bolts. But, it looks like the smallest wheel size will be 19" for the RG19's and the RSL's. So if you are looking for 18's, you may have to keep looking!

Thanks for the help guys. I'm in no rush so it's alright to keep on waiting. I'm new to my porsche so I'm surprised coming from the japanese market how little 1-piece wheel options there are for our cars.

I disagree, their are many one piece styles available.(http://www.wheelenhancement.com/index.php?t=Wheels).
The problem is the quality of the Porsche factory wheels (which most are made by BBS) is sometimes far superior in quality than most aftermarket wheels. As you can see from the above responses, to make a superior wheel is an expensive endeavor, even for BBS. Ask your self a question if you were a wheel manufacturer, do I mass produce low quality wheels for low dollar car manufacturers and make a fortune or do I want to make wheels that are superior to BBS's quality and hope to sell enough to stay in business? I think we all know the route most wheel companies take!

Point well taken, however I feel wheel enhancement shows even more how little the aftermarket companies have pursued making one-piece wheels for our cars. There must be some mechanical reason I am unaware of.
Does it have something to do with the fact that Porsche is an upscale/luxury brand and thus the market demand has shown that there is a high demand in three piece forged wheels rather than one piece wheels? I think the F110 has shown that one piece wheels can look very very nice and still have quite a bit of luxury flair to them.
As far as the aftermarket companies go, I understand that the bolt pattern and offsets for Porsches are unique, however the question mark in my head is from wondering why BBS and OZ can make great looking one piece wheels like the CH and Superleggera and Ultraleggera for most cars, yet choose only to make the three piece for Porsches? I am not a wheel manufacturing expert, rather just an enthusiastic customer, and I happen to prefer the look of one piece wheels over three piece wheels with the huge lip.
Oh well, I suppose it'll probably be the 996 GT3 wheel for me in the future then!

I believe it is the usual "supply and demand" issue. With the wide degree of Porsche models from 1999 to 2007 that have a highe degree of interchangeability in the wheels department, one piece wheel makers would need the capability to make short run of speciality wheels or wheels with multiple widths, offsets and diameters. At the current time it is much easier to produce a 3 piece wheel with a center section and complete the rim halves with offsets the customer desires. It would be very expensive to produce a 18", 19" and 20" one piece wheel with widths of 11", 11.5", 12" and 12.5" with offsets from 25mm to 60mm. Some companies do this very well (Champion), but this privilege is not cheap. I believe OZ is comming out in 2007 with a one piece Ultraleggera for Porsches, but I fear this wheel will be geared for the 997 models (19" and 20" sizes) and will not be a good fit for earlier models (see pic below).
I'm in the same boat as you, I have been looking for a while also.
KEEP THE FAITH!
