A Chiron turned-up to 11

The realm of Bugatti vehicles are that of pure unadulterated automotive fantasy. But to make the brand's current Chiron hypercar look ordinary you need something quite amazing, and that is what the limited-edition Centodieci is. Although it is based on the Chiron platform, the Centodieci features a presence all of its glorious own. 

Vaguely familiar lines

If you are a dedicated follower of all things Bugatti, then you will recognize something familiar about the Centodieci. The hypercar looks like a Bugatti from the brand's early 1990s attitude era. Bugatti modeled the Centodieci as a homage project to the first modern Bugatti, the EB110.

Radical from the rear

There is a lot of special stuff going on at the rear of this futuristic Bugatti homage car. The quad exhaust ends are stacked two by two, instead of being together along with a dramatic nearly road scraping diffuser. The taillights are unique also and pay respect to the EB110. Sitting atop the rear lights is a huge fixed spoiler to produce much-needed downforce for the car at higher speeds.

The wedge shape doesn't date

When Bugatti debuted its EB110 in the early 1990s, it was one of the very few mid-engined supercars, that was not Italian. The Centodieci continues those tight proportions of its predecessor model.

Very exclusive

As you would expect from a limited-edition Bugatti, the wheels are custom and hide massive brakes. When you build vehicles as high performing as Bugattis you need to make your own wheels that can withstand the load that the cars produce. Bugatti will only be building ten of these Centodieci cars, and each is priced at a very premium $8.9m for the most discerning customers.

More powerful than a Chiron

Powering the Centodieci is an amazing engine and a feat of modern engineering. Under the rear glass is a slightly modified version of the Chiron's 8-liter W16 armed with an army of turbochargers and specialist cooling systems. The new iteration of the engine produces a pavement cracking 1600hp, which is a 20hp gain over the Chiron's powerplant. For those curious of what top-end 20 more horsepower gets, that would be a top speed of 263mph.

Respecting the history

One of the most distinctive design details of the Centodieci is its side air-intakes, which st just behind the doors. They feature a pattern of five air ducts, something which harkens back to the original EB110.

An enviable collection

And this very exclusive family image shows the lineage that influenced Bugatti to build Centodieci. It sits squarely in the middle, flanked by an original EB110, which served as inspiration, and the current Chiron, which donated most of the parts and structure. Few brands can claim such a dramatic collection of true hypercar classics, in its history but Bugatti wears the badge well.
