Ferrari 413: The Future Of Racing
Slideshow: It looks as wild as the ideas it represents. As much as it represents a glimpse into the years to come, it stays true to racing of old. Here’s why…
Open Wheels
By keeping with a traditional open-wheel layout Ferrari shows that you can move forward while staying true to what makes the sport so great to watch. By not enclosing the wheels, drivers must stay precise with every movement. This is what Formula 1 is all about and should continue to be about.
Closed Cockpit
By far the best looking of all proposed concepts that would eventually become the Halo was the closed cockpit design. This fighter pilot looking canopy will more than likely be the future of F1 due to its great looks and protective qualities, something the current safety devices lack.

Steering Wheel and Interior
Keeping the theme of simplicity you would be surprised to find there aren’t 1,000 buttons on the steering wheel. Seating comes courtesy of a custom molded unit that cocoons the single driver in the optimum position for weight distribution and ergonomic efficiency.

Wild Aero
One of the most noticeable features of this concept is the massively open front air dam. Looking more like a whale shark than a prancing horse, the mouth of this car swallows up air to direct it where it will be used most efficiently. Underbody design is paramount and looks to be a flat floor. Nice!

Future of Formula 1
While the concept focuses heavily on aerodynamics it would be great to see F1 move into an arena where the cars focus more on mechanical grip coupled with high horsepower. This F 413 is a very attractive package that Formula 1 should consider looking into. Hope you enjoyed this wild concept car. Until next time…
