Grey but certainly not boring

We get so familiar with seeing Ferrari models painted in red being very special vehicles. But there is no denying that Ferrari's mid-engined supercars, such as the 488 Pista, are very special creations. They are designed from the ground up for absolute driver pleasure, but with striking looks, dramatic engines, truly memorable exhaust notes.

A better 488, from north of the Alps

The 488 Pista is a very special car, and that is even by Ferrari's lofty standards of performance. However, for some, the best is never enough. And that is why this modified 488 exists, to show how much further the concept of a mid-engined, V8 Ferrari can be taken. And strangely, the company and technical people responsible for this 488 Pista, are German...

More visuals without messing with the aero

Ferrari applies some of the most advanced aerodynamics in the world to all of its cars with the 488 Pista being no exception. For German aftermarket specialist, Novitec, though it could do even better. Mindful to not mess with Ferrari's inherent aero balance, all the carbon bits that have been added to the rear are all wind-tunnel tested. Novitec has also darkened the rear lights, and it works great with the grey tone exterior paint finish.

More anti-lift aero on the front bumper

This three-quarter front view shows most of the additional carbon-fiber components from Novitec. You'll notice the rocker panels and deeper front lip spoiler for more downforce. Both those upgrades look great, but they also help keep the 488 Pista even more planted and stable at speed.

Variable stance

This close-up view of the Novitec 488 Pista illustrates its unique 21- and 22-inch wheels. The front axle rolls 21s, with the rears being '22s, accounting for their burden of transferring the engine's power to the road. But more interesting than the new wheels is the hydraulic lift-kit suspension that Novitec has installed. To help the 488 Pista clear speed bumps and other inner-city road issues, you can lift the car's nose by 1.57-inches, when required. At speed, you can lower it by 1.27-inches, to create less drag and a more aggressive stance.

It is faster - than the standard Pista

Inside, the Novitec 488 Pista differs very little from the standard car, but that's quite all right The driver-focused ergonomics that Ferrari have been perfecting over decades of design have been left in place. As have most of the striking trim details that make an Italian sportscar feel unique. This is a true driver's cockpit where you can command 0-60mph in just 2.7 seconds (faster than a factory Pista's 2.85 seconds). With all of its upgraded power, the top speed of the Novitec 488 Pista is now a blistering 214mph.

More power for the Pista

The Novitec Pista boasts 791hp and 662 lb-ft, which totaled an increase of 80hp and 94 lb-ft of torque. Best of all, Novitec has also built a custom-crafted exhaust system, which ensures dramatic sound effects when you open up the tap on all that V8 power.
